Know Everything about In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment

 Information About In Vitro Fertilization

There are two other procedures that are similar to in vitro fertilization. They are- zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) and Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT). GIFT is very similar to IVF with the difference being that the sperm and egg are not transferred to the uterus but are transferred to fallopian tubes and the process of fertilization does not take place in the laboratory but it takes place in tubes. The sperm and eggs are transferred to the tubes with the help of a procedure which is known as laparoscopic surgical procedure. It is estimated that 2% of all assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures are due to GIFT.

In ZIFT, the process of fertilization takes place in the laboratory and not the fallopian tubes. It is similar to the GIFT in the way that the sperm and eggs are transferred to the tubes with the help of s laparoscopic surgical procedure.. It is estimated that 1.5% of all assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures are due to ZIFT. The success of in vitro fertilization depends on various factors which include the method used for treatment and the history and health of the patient. In vitro fertilization offers several benefits when compared to other methods of infertility treatment. If any one person in a couple or the couple does not or cannot produce healthy eggs or sperms, there is an option of choosing to sue donor eggs or sperms or both. It is estimated that approximately 10% of all assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles make use of donor eggs.
Similar to all medical procedures, there are certain risks and side effects associated with in vitro fertilization. There are different risks and side effects associated with every step of the procedure. Hyperstimulation is a potential risk where the ovaries can become swollen and cause a lot of pain. It leads to a condition called as Ovarian Hyper stimulation Syndrome which is a rare condition and causes nausea, vomiting and lack of appetite. Approximately 1% of the people undergoing in vitro fertilization experience severe side effects which include severe pain in the abdomen area, breathlessness, weight gain of almost ten pounds in a gap of three to five days, passing of dark colored urine and severe nausea leading to vomiting.

The risk of anesthesia is also associated with laparoscopy and egg retrieval. Other side effects such as bleeding, infection and a slight damage to the bladder, blood vessels or bowel are possible. It is also estimated that less than one person in a thousand people who underwent in vitro fertilization requires surgery to reduce the damage causes during the egg retrieval process.

When assisted reproductive procedure are used, there is also a likelihood of experiencing multiple pregnancies. There are several risks that are related to multiple pregnancies and even premature delivery is possible because of this condition. Thus, these are some of the statistics and risks associated with in vitro fertilization. Every person should consider all of them before deciding to opt for vitro fertilization.

You may be looking to start a family and have thought of using in vitro fertilization. If you have had trouble conceiving, the cost of in vitro fertilization is an important thing to consider. After all, with the costs of having a family along with the costs of conceiving in mind, it is vital that you understand and prepare for whatever changes in expense you may find.

The cost of in vitro fertilization varies depending on the clinic and the individual usually. Each individual clinic may offer different rates and the best option is to do some investigating and check out costs in your area. Usually, insurance providers do not cover the cost of in vitro fertilization. It is possible that your insurance carrier will cover some costs if other various surgical procedures must be performed in conjunction with the in vitro fertilization. It is a great idea to check with your insurance provider to see whether the specific procedures you are getting done will be covered.

Remember that some insurance providers may cover infertility and therefore the cost of in vitro fertilization. You should check with your insurance provider to see what they may cover as far as total cost or itemized, etc. It is also very important to stay full informed of the costs you may accrue to undergo treatment for infertility. The cost of in vitro fertilization is by no means a small expense. If you are serious about bringing a new life into your family and conceiving, it is key to keep that in mind and be prepared for professional medical assistance if you are unable to conceive on your own.

The cost of in vitro fertilization is often funded with financing plans made available to you from the specific office at which you are being treated. Often, reasonable and competitive rates are offered which secure the possibility of your new family without any financial hindrances. Keep in mind that some offices offer plans which allow you to pay one flat fee to cover the cost of in vitro fertilization for a certain number of months or treatments.
